A thoughtful and logical advisor, Sean Kelton helps clients pursue their important objectives in life while helping them identify the imprint they’d like to make on the world. He and the team at The Kelton Financial Group collaborate in creating integrated wealth management plans specifically tailored to a client’s situation.

Sean works primarily with professionals such as corporate executives, doctors, and lawyers. He is keen on creating a roadmap for clients to help them achieve their financial goals which also fits within the constraints of their current lifestyle. Sean finds energy in scoring key wins to maximize a persons’ overall wealth while minimizing their tax burden through creative financial planning strategies.

Sean joined the firm in 2017 after serving three years in various roles across the US at GE Healthcare in operations and engineering. He is currently studying for the Certified Financial Planner certification.

Sean graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in chemical and biological engineering. While an undergraduate, Sean was the president of Beta Theta Phi fraternity. In addition to his engineering studies, Sean also completed a Certificate in Managerial Analytics at Kellogg School of Management and a Certificate in Leadership from the Northwestern Center for Leadership.

Sean and his wife, Julia, enjoy hiking, traveling, brewing beer, trying new food, and attending music festivals. They welcomed their son, Connor, in August 2022. Sean loves watching football, particularly the New York Giants and his alma mater, Northwestern University. Sean is committed to community service, and currently heads the admissions interview process for Northwestern University in upstate New York. In the past, he traveled to Africa to help build a school in a rural Malawi village.

The 2023 Forbes ranking of America’s Top Wealth Management Teams Best-In-State, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative criteria, mostly gained through telephone and in-person due diligence interviews, and quantitative data. This ranking is based upon the period from 4/1/2021 to 3/31/2022 and was released on 01/12/2023. Advisor teams that are considered must have one advisor with a minimum of seven years of experience, have been in existence as a team for at least one year, have at least 5 team members, and have been nominated by their firm. The algorithm weights factors like revenue trends, assets under management, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass best practices in their practices and approach to working with clients. Portfolio performance is not a criteria due to varying client objectives and lack of audited data. Out of approximately 8,000 team nominations, 2,860 advisor teams received the award based on thresholds. The Forbes Next-Gen Wealth Advisors rankings, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative criterion, mostly gained through telephone and in-person due diligence interviews, and quantitative data. Those advisors that are considered are under 40, have a minimum of four years' experience, and the algorithm weighs factors like revenue trends, assets under management, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass the highest standards of best practices. Portfolio performance is not a criterion due to varying client objectives and lack of audited data. Neither Forbes nor SHOOK receive a fee in exchange for rankings. The Research Summary (as of August 2022) included: 35,465 nominations for all rankings, based on thresholds, 19,986 invited to complete online survey, 14,892 telephone interviews, 3,038 in-person interviews at advisors’ location, 1,357 virtual interviews and 3,513 individuals considered and 1,000 individuals won the Next-Gen ranking. The Forbes ranking of the Top Financial Security Professionals Best-In-State, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative and quantitative data, evaluating thousands of professionals who are properly licensed to sell life insurance and annuities in categories including: production/premiums, death benefits and assets under management, client persistency rates, providing a full client service model & planning process. FSPs must have at least 7 years of experience, be nominated by their current firm, and have an acceptable compliance record. Portfolio performance is not a criteria due to varying client objectives and lack of audited data. Research Summary (as of July 2022): Out of approximately 3,500 nominations, based on thresholds, 820 professionals received the award (the amount in each state varies based on populations).
